The Byzantine Catholic Church has a rich heritage, finding its origins in the missionary work of St. Andrew the Apostle. Over the centuries, our apostolic tradition developed and was enriched by the theological and worship traditions of the Eastern Roman Empire. Over time missionaries were sent out to other parts of Europe, and eventually their descendants moved to North America.
Today, the Byzantine Catholic Church of the United States is recognized by Rome as one of the 23 Churches which make up the Catholic Communion. Fully in communion with Rome, we uphold and teach Eastern Christian theology, spirituality, and worship. In the spirit of the Holy Apostles and the early Byzantine missionaries, Byzantine Catholics proclaim The Good News of Jesus Christ to all people.
We are members of the Byzantine Catholic Metropolitan Church of Pittsburgh. The head of our Church is the Metropolitan Archbishop of Pittsburgh.
